Just got the new i607 BlackJack from cingular. I traded in my 8125 for this device and my first impressions are good.

I liked the 8125 for the pullout keyboard and wifi, but the touch screen was a little annoying. Also, the 8125 could only support cingular's edge network, so I couldn't take advantage of the brand new, and faster 3G/UMTS and HSDPA network.

So, cingular came out with two new phones last week - 8525 (the 8125 upgrade), and the i607 blackjack. I like the size, speed, and one touch dialing...I'll trade that up for wifi capabilities any day, especially on the 3G network. I'm still getting used to the smartphone OS, but even with the limited features compared to Pocket PC, I think it's a better fit for me.

DC Metro (WMATA) made a huge improvement when they added status bulletins in all stations a few years ago. But it never helped you figure out if you needed to park a little faster or risk missing your train.

Well now WMATA has a service where you to check train status right from your web enabled cell phone. Simply go to on your cell phone Internet browser and you'll get real time information for when a train is arriving and boarding at your favorite station.

Check it out and let me know what you think.
